The ALTEMIRA Group has launched “LoopAL,” an aluminum product that helps reduce CO2 emissions

ALTEMIRA Co., Ltd. announced that its group company Sakai aluminium Corporation has begun selling LoopAL, an aluminum product that contributes to CO2 reduction.
Sakai aluminium has established the only integrated production system in Japan for high-purity aluminum foil products for aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Utilizing its proprietary high purity refining technology, the company achieves high product performance and quality, and holds a world-class market share in this field. In the production of aluminum foil for electrolytic capacitors, new, high-purity aluminum ingots undergo a further purification process. This generates a certain percentage of refining residue. The main component of this residue is 99% aluminum, and as it is a by-product, it has zero CO₂ emissions.
Sakai aluminium has named the aluminum product made from this refining residue LoopAL. They will begin selling it as a pure aluminum sheet (A1100P), which is widely used in semiconductor manufacturing machines and construction materials. The company also plans to expand the LoopAL series to include other types of aluminum sheet. LoopAL can be blended up to 75% when combined with that have zero CO2 emissions like refined residues, and when purchased scrap is added, recycled materials can be blended up to 90% even though the material is pure aluminum. Compared to the carbon footprint of manufacturing aluminum sheet products from new aluminum ingots, CO2 emissions are reduced by approximately 60%. In addition, equipment and buildings using pure aluminum material LoopAL will achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions without the use of green aluminum ingots smelted using renewable energy.
