ALTEMIRA Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “ALTEMIRA”), a menber of the ALTEMIRA Group, and MA Aluminum Corporation (Head Office: Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture; hereinafter “MA Aluminum”) have begun the continuous supply of aluminum bottles and caps both made from 100% recycled materials, with the aim of helping to realize a recycling-oriented society.

Since December 2022, ALTEMIRA and MA Aluminum have been manufacturing 410 ml aluminum bottles using 100% recycled material , promoting a shift to products that reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 25% compared with conventional aluminum bottles. Now, by using 100% recycled material not only for the aluminum bottles but also for the caps, CO2 emissions per container have been reduced by approximately 37%, enabling the supply of packaging with a lower environmental impact.

Caps require high performance, including reliable sealing, and have traditionally needed high-strength materials containing a large proportion of virgin metal. Manufacturing caps from recycled material requires dealing with characteristics unique to recycled content, which differ from those of materials used for conventional caps. To achieve the same performance standards as before, we addressed this challenge from both the material development and cap manufacturing perspectives. As a result, we have established a system that enables the continuous supply of aluminum bottles and caps made from used beverage cans (UBC).
