Sakai Aluminium, a subsidiary of the ALTEMIRA Group, has obtained third-party verification of the CFP value of its “LoopAL®” low-carbon aluminum sheet product and start shipping with an expanded lineup.

ALTEMIRA Holdings Co., Ltd. announced that its subsidiary, Sakai aluminium Corporation obtained third-party verification for the CFP (Carbon Footprint of Products) value of its “LoopAL®” low-carbon aluminum sheet product. Additionally, Sakai Aluminium will add a product with 99.5% purity to its lineup and begin shipping it next month.
Sakai Aluminium’s “LoopAL®” is a low-carbon aluminum sheet product manufactured using a proprietary process. LoopAL is primarily made from aluminum with a purity exceeding 99.5%. This aluminum is a byproduct generated when producing high-purity aluminum foil (99.99% or 99.9% purity) for aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Sakai Aluminium holds the top domestic market share in this sector. The product incorporates up to 90% recycled material. With a CFP value less than half that of plate products made from new aluminum ingots, LoopAL contributes to reducing Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions for companies that adopt it. Additionally, unlike low-carbon aluminum products derived from green aluminum, LoopAL is not affected by renewable energy procurement.
Since announcing it last April, we have engaged in discussions with many customers considering its implementation. In response to requests for evidence regarding the CFP value of LoopAL, we calculated a value that complies with ISO 14067 and obtained verification from SGS Japan Inc., an international third-party certification body. In addition to our initial A1100P plate products, which have a purity of 99% or higher, we are adding A1050P products, which have a purity of 99.5% or higher, to our lineup. Due to these measures, SDAT Co., Ltd. and Hakuto Co., Ltd. have decided to start selling their inventory. Shipments to SDAT will begin next month.
